What Should I Keep in my Glove Box?

Some of us try and squeeze almost everything and anything in our glove box and eventually they become overfilled with rubbish. Check out our top 8 essential items that we think you should store in your glove box.

You might not think it, but your glove box is actually a really handy compartment. So to help you maximise the use of your glove box, we’ve prepared a list of some of our glovebox essentials.

1. First aid kit

Fingers crossed you won’t have to use this, but just in case you cut your finger or you desperately want some tape to tape up your other half’s mouth, then having a first aid kit in your glove box is always a good idea. They are so handy and you can even get one that’s small enough to fit in as most shops now sell small compact ones.

2. In case you need light

Most of us would probably just use the torch on our phones, but what if your battery has died? Having a torch in your glove box could make all the difference. You just never know when you might find yourself stranded and praying for that little bit of light so that you can see under your bonnet. Or maybe you just need to find that crisp wrapper you dropped under your seat.

3. Important documents

Documents like your owner’s manual should always be stored in your glove box so that you can double-check what that symbol means on your dashboard. Having some proof of your insurance in your glove box could also be helpful too. And a pen and a piece of paper is a must. Should you be involved in an accident, you’re going to need to exchange details. You don’t want to be writing on the back of your hand, do you?

4. Cleaning wipes and tissues

How annoying is it when you or the kids spill something in the car and you don’t have anything to quickly wipe it up with. You’ll thank yourself by keeping a pack of wipes handy in your glove box. And if you want to avoid the kids from wiping their snotty noses everywhere, a pack of tissues is a must too.

5. Spare phone charger

If you’re constantly on your phone then you’ll know how often it will need charging and whether or not your battery could last on a long car journey. In the event of an emergency your phone is probably one of the most important things you could have on you but what good is it if it’s dead.

If you’ve decided from reading this that your car’s glove box is just too small to fit everything in it and you’re just so desperate to have all these essentials, you might be considering buying a new car. Ok, maybe you don’t just want a new car so that you can have a bigger glove box, perhaps it’s time for a change anyway. If so, we’re here to help as we can take your old one off your hands for you.
