Amazing Electric Rolls-Royce Spectre Rendered

Rolls-Royce Spectre Enters the Second Phase of Development

Rolls-Royce is another step closer to launching its first fully electric car as the Spectre continues its extensive development programme ahead of its debut.

The Spectre has now entered its second phase of testing, with engineers carrying out rigorous cold-weather development in Sweden. Industry speculation has also suggested the luxury EV could share certain electric vehicle technology with BMW’s latest electric platform.

Rolls-Royce Promises an Authentic Electric Driving Experience

Rolls-Royce says the Spectre has been engineered to deliver an authentic driving experience while maintaining the refinement and craftsmanship the brand is known for.

Development testing is taking place across demanding routes designed to replicate real-world driving conditions, with over half of the programme being carried out on roads that mirror how owners will actually use the vehicle.

Although Rolls-Royce has yet to reveal the final production design, development prototypes indicate several distinctive styling features, including:

  • A sleek sloping roofline.
  • Split headlight design.
  • Rear-hinged coach doors.
  • Elegant grand touring proportions.

Performance Expectations

Official technical specifications remain under wraps, but industry reports suggest the Spectre could feature a powerful dual-motor electric drivetrain producing around 600bhp.

If accurate, that could allow the luxury coupé to accelerate from 0-62mph in around four seconds, making it one of the quickest production Rolls-Royce models ever built.

A New Chapter for Rolls-Royce

Chief Executive Officer Torsten Müller-Ötvös described the Spectre as one of the most significant vehicles in the company’s history.

He stated that the battery-electric model would represent:

“The purest expression of the Rolls-Royce experience.”

The move to electric power also allows Rolls-Royce to further refine the smooth, effortless driving characteristics for which the brand has long been renowned.

Lightweight Construction and Improved Aerodynamics

The Spectre is expected to feature Rolls-Royce’s latest all-aluminium spaceframe architecture.

According to the manufacturer, this delivers approximately 30% greater structural rigidity than previous Rolls-Royce models while also improving refinement.

Aerodynamic efficiency has also been a major focus during development.

Rolls-Royce is targeting a drag coefficient of around 0.25, making the Spectre the most aerodynamic vehicle the company has ever produced.

Rolls-Royce’s Electric Future

The Spectre marks the beginning of Rolls-Royce’s transition towards a fully electric future.

The manufacturer has confirmed that by 2030, every new Rolls-Royce model will be fully electric, bringing an end to combustion-engine production across the range.

The Spectre therefore represents not only a new flagship model but also the start of a new era for one of the world’s best-known luxury car brands.
